Crooked Media, a political powerhouse, is launching a new TV series called Long Play, which aims to explore the complexities of the political South. The show, hosted by former Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton communications executive Jennifer Palmieri, along with former New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu and veteran journalist Errin Haines, will take a deep dive into the nuances of Southern politics. The series will feature interviews with influential figures like Stacey Abrams, Marjorie Taylor Green, and Brian Kemp, as well as cover events like James Talarico's rally in Laredo, Texas. The show will also incorporate music from singer-songwriter and liberal activist Jason Isbell and creative input from the magazine Bitter Southerner. Long Play will take a longer view of the forces shaping each state, rather than just chronicling the week in politics. Palmieri believes the show could help address the confusion and misunderstanding surrounding Southern politics, and that it will appeal to viewers from across the political spectrum. The show is being produced and financed by Left/Right Productions, which also produced The Circus and Mob Wives. Palmieri thinks this pattern of former White House officials establishing a place in the political news firmament is not accidental, and that people are hungry for inside information. Long Play, she says, will try to provide that.
